To ensure your computer is performing well and efficiently, it is always important to ensure you have the latest drivers for your computer’s hardware, programs and softwares, and updates for your operating system.

Microsoft Windows is the most common used product for home computers.  Since the first release of Windows 95 in 1995, there have been numerous versions released afterwards such as Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows XP. The newer version always contains improvements and also updates to the previous versions.  However, instead of spending more money to purchase the latest version of Windows (which usually requires a faster computer), you can always download the latest updates and Microsoft products.  Just click here to visit the Microsoft Windows Update website, and then click on the Scan for updates link.  This page will scan your computer for any Microsoft products, and then present you with a list of updates or patches available for download.

Please note, if you have not updated your Windows operating system for a long time, you will find a large list of updates waiting to download.  Therefore, it would be ideal to perform the Windows Update at a time where no one would need to use your phone.

Apart from updating Windows and Microsoft products on your computer, it is also vitally important to ensure that your device drivers for your hardware are up-to-date.  A device driver is responsible for initiating and controlling your hardware, such as your modem, printer, sound card and graphics (video) card.  Because there is a large variety of hardware brands and vendors, it would be impossible to compile a full list of sites you can visit to download drivers for your computer’s hardware.
