Dial-Up Networking Password Is Not Saved

When you try to save your password when you are making a Dial-Up Networking connection by clicking the Save Password check box, your password may not be saved. Or the option to save your password is inactive.
This problem can be caused by any of the following situations:
1. Your password list (.pwl) file is damaged.
2. The Rna.pwl (if it exists) is damaged.
3. Password caching is disabled.
4. Automatic logon is enabled.
5. One or more files associated with Dial-up Networking is missing or damaged.
Warning: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. We cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of the Registry Editor can be solved. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.
1. Click on Start -> Find -> Files or Folders
2. Where it says named type: *.pwl
3. Make sure Look in is pointing to your C: drive, then click on Find Now
4. Delete any PWL files found during the search, then close the Find window
5. Click on Start -> Run then type: regedit
6. Click on the (+) showing next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then click on the (+) next to Software, then Microsoft, then Windows, then CurrentVersion, then Network. Click once on Real Mode Net. On the right window pane, see if you have AutoLogon listed there. If you do, right click on AutoLogon then left click on Delete Key (or just DELETE)
7. Click on the (-) sign next to 'Network', and then click on the + next to
'Policies'. Click once on 'Network'. On the right window pane, see if you have Disable Password Caching listed there. If you do, right click on 'Disable Password Caching, then left click on Delete Key (or just DELETE)
8. Close the Registry Editor program by clicking on the X at the top right
corner
9. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network
10. Under Primary Network Logon: lower-down, make sure you have Client for Microsoft Networks showing, then click the OK button
11. If you are prompted to restart your computer, just click YES, or else
click on Start -> Shutdown -> Restart then click OK
12. After your computer has reloaded, you should receive a window prompting for a username and password. If you do not have a username showing already, just type in your first name, BUT leave the password field empty, then click OK. You will be prompted to retype the password again, just leave both fields empty again, then click OK
